What if my pet’s sample contains dirt or other contaminants?
It’s okay! If you are able to collect a sample that is completely free of dirt or hair— even better. Our poop health test includes a clean-up process to remove more quickly.
Will the test show if my pet has a parasitic infection?
The test package is a gut health test specifically for the bacterial microbiome, which does not include parasites like Giardia, hookworms, or roundworms.
Will the test tell me which foods my dog is allergic to?
No. This test does not detect allergies or the bacteria present in the microbiome. This will not provide information on food allergies or intolerances.
What is real microbiome testing, and what are gene barcodes?
Real microbiome testing is the process of sequencing bacterial DNA material from a small stool sample. We can detect and identify the bacteria from your dog’s stool using this method.
Will this report help diagnose my dog’s specific condition?
This report provides a comprehensive profile. Testing a dog’s microbiome provides insight into their health. Then imbalances in specific gut bacteria can be addressed to help reduce symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, or itchy skin that may be associated with some chronic health conditions.
Will my sample be safe in the mail?
Yes, the sample tubes contain a special liquid that keeps the bacteria perfectly preserved for analysis, across a very wide range of temperatures, once inside the tube. The sample is safe.
How long does it take to get my dog’s test results?
Reports are typically available within two weeks from when the sample arrives at our laboratory.
